The Wave is nice, but for every day use, the standard Leatherman is king.
#Leatherman skeletool vs skeleton cx series#
I am not impressed with the Suspension series at all. The Leatherman Skeletool CX tool is a versatile mid-sized multitool that has been optimized for strength and light weight. Oh, well, run down to "duh Shak" and get one if you work with electronics at all. The original knife uses 420 stainless steel, while the CX uses. It was a dumb move selling that as a Radio Shack only tool, a tool with that nice wire stripper belongs in the Jensen Tools catalog, or Grainger or something. Materials-wise, the main difference between the regular Skeletool and the CX is the blade steel. The PST served as the template for pretty much every tool they made for a while and still some tools today (such as the Super Tool). Then the Wave and Charge came along with their huge compliment of tools and outside accessible knife blades. Every bit as good as those made by Ideal or Paladin. The Leatherman Skeletool is really the first 3rd generation tool designed by Leatherman. With a 154CM stainless steel blade, pliers, bit. I have a tiny Micra sold only at Radio Shack, has a calibrated wire stripper in it. The CX has the most essential of multi tool utensils because sometimes, keeping it simple is more effective.

I had a Juice, it's just not the tool the standard LM is. I have a very simple LM and that gets used mending fence and odd jobs but I'll be on the lookout for TOOLS TOOLS TOOLS when garage-sale'ing season starts again, pliers and cutters for $1 each, and save the wear on the LM.

I'm LM and SAK all the way, I have a Wave I got for Xmas and have the bit set too, fancy-fanc so it stays at home. I don't wanna see any plastic or aluminum structural parts on my tools.
