I recommend Briefing Room for a quick and easy mission generator, as well as swinging by the ED website and find some nice user-created missions and skins for this bird. The cockpit is set up very nicely and just about every button is clickable, so you don't have to bind a billion modifiers on your controller or flight stick. If I'm spending $50-$80 on a single plane, it should feel like more care went into it, more respect considered for the aircraft and the people interested in it.īut really, the plane isn't difficult to learn. Most ED fanboys point you to Youtube and the many tutorials other users have made (which is very generous of these youtubers, as the ones paid to make this plane couldn't be bothered with making their training missions with the same level of quality), but I don't want to watch a 20-minute video while I have my game paused. I feel like, the training missions should really go over each system of the plane, like the MFDs and the targeting pods and setting up countermeasures, really flesh out everything this great plane is capable of - sessions that compliment the manual, so you can really get your hands on what you just read.

Aside from expecting you have read the manual first (which honestly isn't so bad and is a fun read if you're genuinely interested in how these planes work), the 'instructors' basically just say 'press this, and this, and then this' without really going over WHY I'm pressing this, and this, and then this. Three missions and some Instant Action missions that are nice for practice. It's hard not to get burnt out learning how this craft works when NOTHING is waiting for you after learning it. I guess because of the sorry state ED released the F-16 in, the general opinion for this plane is low compared to the other modules, so there's hardly any content for this plane, both paid third-party and user-created.

  • All of the new modes added are designed to be a challenge, and are not recommended at all if you can't complete the base game. While this isn't entirely a positive review, I won't leave it as a negative one because overall, I am very pleased with the F-16, and I don't regret getting it - I just regret getting it as my first true module.ĭON'T GET THIS MODULE IF YOU MOSTLY PLAY SINGLE-PLAYER.
  • Many new and and complex items may make it hard to learn the basic game.

An extra floor is added, which makes it harder to do all zones runs. Many uncommon yet powerful items are added, such as familiars, magic food, new shovels, and new torches.New items such as Spiked Ears and Heavy Glass Armour make it far easier for better players, but don't help less experienced players at all.Ooze golems (floor 4) get a massive nerf.Plus, much of the content is more suited to players who will stick around - additional challenging modes, items that mainly help harder characters, and more rare items. IMO, although it adds some great new items and mechanics, that also makes the base concept harder to learn. If you already have the base game (meaning you can't get the DLC in a bundle), you should play for a while to gauge how good you are before getting the DLC.
